Local Job Creation
Local staff are being recruited to fill the many job positions created
in order to care for the children. A special focus will be the recruitment
of Christian widows to serve as housemothers. We currently employ
40 local workers in Zambia. In support of the 55 children in Namibia,
twenty-two local staff positions have been created. Staff recruitment
and training is a critical component to the project. Christian colleges,
NGOs, and faith-based organizations will continuously receive information
regarding the positions that are open. AKCLI will work with appropriate
Evangelical organizations in the United States and in Zambia to develop
training for caregivers and staff.
Funding
Funding for the project will be obtained through our partners and
local churches in the United States. This includes the construction
as well as the maintenance of the facilities. Day to day expenses
will come from church sponsors of individual orphans up to complete
clusters of orphan homes. Local churches will also supply mission
teams to visit to provide personal discipleship for the orphans, physical
maintenance support of the facilities, teaching assistance, and love
and care for the volunteers and leadership at the villages.
